Happy New Year!

Xander has had a busy week!  One week ago, we celebrated the new year at the Xoo, complete with a noon countdown and beach ball drop.  On Tuesday, we went to Lincoln for a playdate at X's aunt Kiki's, where he wore himself out playing with the twins.  X had a doctor appointment on Wednesday and received his last shots until he's four years old!  The doctor said he is super healthy and doing well.  We don't have to go back for 6 more months.  Xander is talking more than ever, now enjoying the words house, water, fishy (he says "sishy" and signs fish with one hand), down, and of course Andy.  He loves to run around at the furniture mart, climb the ramp at Legend Comics, play with every toy at the library, and flirt with all the girls that walk by him at the mall.  We are having a blast!

Here are some pictures of X playing with blocks, doing his favorite yoga move (down dog), and drinking his favorite drink (water):

Xander had his 12-month doctor visit on Tuesday.  He had to have his finger pricked and received 3 shots, but he was super tough!  Here are Xander's current stats:
  • Height:  29.25"
  • Weight:  20 lb 3.5 oz
  • Head Circumference:  45.7 cm
Xander is doing well and is super healthy!  Here are some unrelated pictures of our sleepy guy at Standing Bear Lake from a while ago:

27 Weeks

Xander has had a busy 27th week with us!  He went to the doctor a couple days ago and got a lot of shots.  He was such a tough guy!  Here's Xander's new stats:
  • Height:  Xander is 26.75" tall now (58th%)
  • Weight:  At 16 lb 3 oz (23%), Xander's weight is evening back out--he didn't even gain a pound in the last 2 months.
  • Head Circumference:  43.3 cm (34%)
Otherwise, we have been enjoying our time off together, playing with his new toys and going to new (and old) places around town.

Xander's 4 Month Doctor Visit

We took Xander to get checked out on Thursday.  He weighed 15 pounds 5 ounces, he is 25.5 inches long and his head circumference is 41 centimeters around.  He is in the 75th percentile for his height and the 20th percentile for his head size!  He was a very good baby even when they gave him his two shots and a drink for vaccines.  The doctor said that he was perfect : )

Paul Day Pics

I have a folder on my work laptop entitled "Paul Day Pics," in which I keep all of the pictures Paul sends me from his phone during the day when we're apart.  I love these pictures, because I get a glimpse of what my boys are doing--things like hanging out in their PJ's, taking a shower, playing with toys, doing the laundry, taking naps.  I thought I would share a few of the latest ones:

Xander has his 4-month well-baby appointment tonight.  I can't wait to find out his new official measurements!

3 Week Growth Spurt

We have been surviving a three week growth spurt in the past few days and everyone is crazy tired! On top of that, I have been teaching a summer workshop at PKI for hyperactive middle school kids. I am happy that today is the last day for that. After class yesterday, we went to our pediatrician just to check on some digestive problems that Xander has been experiencing as of late. They told us to keep an eye on him and Sarah has made a few slight changes in her diet.

Today's Lab Results

Xander had some more blood drawn this morning--poor guy!  Things went much better today, and he barely cried.  The doctor said his bilirubin levels were down to 14.4, and since things are going well, we are just going to continue monitoring him for awhile.  We came home and Xander and I slept for hours.

I finally cut his fingernails last night.  Talk about a terrifying experience!  I've been so scared to do it, but he didn't even seem to notice.

First Doctor Visit

Xander had his first adventure at the doctor's office this morning. We took him in to be weighed and were sent off to the childrens' hospital to get some lab work done. Xander has just a touch of the jaundice so they had to take some blood. They poked him in three places! He took it like a champ and has a nice purple armband to show for his efforts. We found out from the results that his blood type is O+ just like his mom. We have to go back tomorrow morning for some more blood letting to check if he is progressing in the right direction. If not, he will prolly have to lay around under some cool blankets that bathe him in some good light and help clear up his yellowishness. Other than that, Xander is eating well and sleeping a few hours at a time. Both of us parents are sleepy, though we have not progressed to zombie status.

Paul out!
